Following the departure of Paul Rowley, Brian McDermott has been confirmed as the new head coach of Toronto Wolfpack.

After taking control of the club for the first two years of their existence, Rowley was confirmed to have departed his role at the Wolfpack after the Canadians missed out on promotion via the Million Pound Game, suffering a 4-2 defeat at home against London. Following that defeat, rumours emerged suggesting that Rowley would be departing the club – something which ultimately rang true.

The most successful coach in Super League, McDermott certainly has the experience and ability to ensure the Wolfpack achieve promotion into the top flight at the second time of asking. “After being at the Rhinos for so long, I always knew I couldn’t just roll into any other club so easily,” he told the media following his appointment. “Toronto Wolfpack offers a challenge and ambition that not many other clubs have, already demonstrating this with how they’ve gone about getting to this stage,” the former Leeds boss added.
