Four-time Super League winning forward Brett Delaney has signed a two-year deal with Betfred Championship team Featherstone Rovers, the club have confirmed.

Ever since Delaney, 33, announced that he was leaving Leeds Rhinos, seemingly calling an end to his full-time career, a move to dual-registration partners Featherstone had been mooted. The Australian has made one previous appearance for the LD Nutrition Stadium club and Rovers fought off competition to sign the experienced back-rower who, when initially joining Leeds, was better known as a centre. The former NRL forward will continue employment at the Rhinos and is taking up a role with the club’s foundation.

Of his move, Delaney spoke of his eagerness to get started with his new team. I’m very excited to start a new chapter with Featherstone, for the next two years,” he told the media. I know I still have a lot to give, both on an off the pitch as a player.”

  1. I think it’s disgusting that nothing has been planned by Rhinos regarding the departure of Brett Delaney , he contributed to Leeds just the same as all the other players. His departure should be treated with the respect he deserves

  2. Needs a testimonial deserves it come on board of Leeds rhinos get your act together and reward someone who gave his all for rhinos thankyou Les ripley
