WATCH: Hastings to stay

Jackson Hastings has confirmed today that he is staying at Salford Red Devils, at least for 2019 and possibly beyond.

In a video released on social media, set to atmospheric music, the Australian star thanked the fans and wider community for making his stay with the club so enjoyable before adding “sorry mum, I’m staying at Salford for one more year.” The half back joined the club just before the Super 8s and has inspired the club to earning Super League survival and, with him wearing the red jersey and not the one of any of the other teams he was linked with, head coach Ian Watson will be keen to ensure that the club aren’t dicing with relegation in 2019.

The 22-year-old has been a star performer for the club since arriving from the NRL and Manly after being jettisoned by the club for apparent disciplinary issues. Hastings himself has suggested that those issues weren’t what they were made out to be and what is clear, from his demeanour and attitude, Salford have a great player and person within the club who, thus far, has really seemed to enjoy his time with the club.
