KR distance themselves from Hall

Despite rumours this week linking the England winger with a move to the Robins, Hull KR have today distanced themselves from the links between them and an interest in bringing Leeds Rhinos’ Ryan Hall to the club.

Reports broke in recent days suggesting that Tim Sheens was keen to bring the 30-year-old to join the ranks of former Rhinos in the KR squad yet the club have strongly denied a move to take him from West Yorkshire to East. The 38-time England international’s current contract with the reigning Super League champions is set to expire at the end of this season but it is believed that neither the club nor Hall are in a rush to finalise a new deal – not that he isn’t keen to remain at the club.

Speaking of the imminent expiration of the contract, Leeds head coach Brian McDermott revealed that he remains hopeful that the winger will remain with the club he has been with throughout his whole career. “There’s no drama with any of it. Anyone of Ryan’s stature in the game will always attract interest. I think he’s in good shape, he’s enjoying his time with us and his head is in a great space,” he said. Continuing in the same matter, the Rhinos’ boss stated that “he’s really fit and playing some great stuff; he was one of England’s best players over in Denver and we’ve got a good player there. Any decision he makes will be in our best interest as well. He’s a big fan of the club, he’s a local lad and he’s spent a lot of good time here, and I don’t think there’s any urgency or pressure there just yet.”
