It was only speculated in recent weeks that Huddersfield Giants’ Jake Mamo could be heading across West Yorkshire to Castleford Tigers for the 2019 campaign but another rumour has now emerged, linking the Australian full back with a move across the Pennines to Wigan Warriors.
Despite the imminent arrival of Zak Hardaker for next season once his drugs ban passes, the link with Mamo suggests that the 2016 Super League winners’ back line may have a very different look next season. Indeed, 24-year-old Mamo has played at both centre and wing in the weeks following Simon Woolford’s appointment and it is quite possible that the Warriors’ chiefs have seen something they like in the former Newcastle Knights man’s game.
Indeed, 2019 promises to be a very different year for Wigan with key figures including Shaun Wane and Sam Tomkins leaving the club. Whether Mamo is there or not, the next campaign will see a Warriors team with a very different look.
