Robins sign Rhino

Speculation has been plentiful surrounding the future of Leeds Rhinos’ Jimmy Keinhorst since it was revealed that his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season and, if reports are to be believed, his new destination has already been agreed.

The reigning champions supposedly hoped to keep hold of the German international but it was expected that he would move on due to a lack of first team opportunities. Despite interest from Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Trinity and Toronto Wolfpack, Hull KR have won the race for the 27 year old’s signature. That move, if it is indeed true, would see Keinhorst link up with a raft of former Rhinos, including Danny McGuire and director of rugby Jamie Peacock.

Despite his strong performances when selected and the backing of large parts of Leeds’ fanbase, Keinhorst has struggled to establish himself as a first choice for the club. Behind Liam Sutcliffe in the pecking order for a centre berth, due to his own injury absence earlier in the season he now finds himself behind Ash Handley – a player whose form in 2018 sees him now as the primary understudy to Liam Sutcliffe.

The Robins, however, look to have secured the signature of a man who gives his all any time he enters the field and will certainly look to take his first real chance of regular, first choice rugby league with both hands.
