Leeds Rhinos play host to the in-form Warrington Wolves on Friday night at Headingley following a narrow and hard-fought victory at Hull KR last time out and are set to welcome back three players from injury.
Nathaniel Peteru – the man who got injured on his debut, coincidentally, against Warrington in the season opener – came through his first competitive match since then when he pulled on the Featherstone Rovers jersey at the weekend. As well as the former Gold Coast Titans prop, Jack Walker (ankle) and Brad Dwyer (elbow) are included in the nineteen man squad having missed the last five and three games respectively.
The latter two, however, do need to pass fitness tests in order to feature against a Wolves team who have won their last eight matches in all competitions and possess arguably the competition’s most in-form winger in the shape of Josh Charnley. The former Wigan Warrior has crossed ten times in just six matches in Warrington colours and his battle on the flank against Ryan Hall may well play a big part in the final destination of the two points on Friday night.
The visitors to Headingley have made just one change from last week’s squad which put Huddersfield Giants to the sword with Mitch Brown coming in for Morgan Smith. The club have today announced the re-signing of Ben Pomeroy from Lezignan but isn’t included. He is expected to be very much an understudy to the first teamers with his versatility a big draw for head coach Steve Price. “Ben’s a pro with a really good understanding of the game having been around for quite a while now. He’s a team-first player and can play in a number of positions; in the back row as well as at centre. He played a few games here at Warrington last year and he’s someone who everyone loves playing with. I had no hesitation in getting him back over here,” he explained.
