Toronto Wolfpack have today announced the long rumoured signing of Manly Sea Eagles’ forward Darcy Lussick on a three year deal.

Initially made available following the sanctions imposed on the NRL club following their being found guilty of salary cap breaches, the 28 year old has signed for the Canadians as they aim for a second successive promotion which would see them in Super League next season.

He will join fellow former NRL stars Ashton Sims, Chase Stanley, Cory Paterson and Josh McCrone and joins following 64 appearances for the team he initially joined as a youth player and 117 NRL appearances in total. On the confirmation of his move, Lussick tweeted “thank you Manly for giving me the privilege to play first grade football for my local junior club over the years.”

Reciprocating, the club released a statement that “this was too good of an opportunity for Darcy to pass up, so he leaves the Sea Eagles with our blessing. Darcy has proven to be a fine player and a good ambassador for Manly. We thank him for all of contributions both on and off the field. We wish him well for the future.”

Upon being made available by the Sea Eagles, Lussick was initially linked with a Super League move and both Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos were suggested as possible destinations for him, although neither club confirmed a concrete interest publically.

The Wolfpack are currently enjoying a five game winning streak and sit at the top of the Betfred Championship. Their next game is on Sunday (15th April) as they visit Dewsbury Rams, a team coming into the match on the back of five straight defeats.
