Scotland winger Matty Russell is reportedly close to leaving Warrington for fellow Super League club Salford Red Devils.

Mitch Brown was an off season recruit and is the current incumbent for the right wing berth which was Russell’s last season. The recent arrival of former Wigan star Josh Charnley, himself a specialist right winger, looks to have pushed both Brown and Russell further down the pecking order and coach Steve Price looks prepared to allow the former Gold Coast Titan to depart the club.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and, despite crossing for 31 tries in 94 appearances in the primrose and blue since signing in 2014, looks set for a move to the AJ Bell Stadium.
