Wrecking ball returns home

Following Wigan Warriors’ fortnight Down Under, their former NRL prop Frank-Paul Nuuausala has left the club after remaining in Australia as his teammates and club staff returned back to the UK.

It is being reported that the forward, after playing 47 games for the club, is set to sign for his former club Sydney Roosters on a one year contract which, according to Aussie journalist John Massoud, is on “modest money.” The 31 year old forward joined the Cherry and Whites midway through 2016 and helped the club to their Grand Final victory in his first campaign in Lancashire.

While understandably disappointed by the departure of Nuuausala, Wigan’s Executive Director Kris Radlinski said in a club statement that ““Frank and his family have struggled to adapt to life in the UK. His family are currently back in Australia having decided to stay there following the close-season break and his situation was becoming increasingly difficult by the day.”

There were rumours earlier in the off season that the veteran of 15 New Zealand test appearances was set to leave the club after being strongly but briefly linked to Western Suburbs Rosellas early in January. That move, obviously, didn’t come off but it seems that Nuuausala will imminently be pulling on an NRL jersey once more.
